With all the hype about the Neowise 2020 F3 comet I decided that I needed to have a go myself. So after studying the positions, times and Meteorology maps I worked out that Magpie mine would be perfect, photographed from a distance with a longish lens I could get the comet rising above the mine buildings around 2am on Sunday morning. To say that it was a fantastic experience would be an understatement, the conditions were perfect with a clear sky plus the addition of some noctilucent clouds on the horizon, having only seen the comet in other photos I didn’t know if it would be easy to spot with the naked eye but you couldn’t miss it and certainly well worth leaving at silly o’clock to see it, great when a plan comes together.
